Thank you for your participation in the 2009 Pittsburgh ISA Education and Product Expo. Long before the conclusion of the 2008 Pittsburgh ISA Show it was apparent that trade shows as we have traditionally known them in Pittsburgh were no longer meeting the needs of the automation community. Throughout the intervening year, the Pittsburgh Section in general and the show chairman, Brian Hyjurick, in particular have been diligently working to develop an education and product expo of value to the automation community in the tri-state area. Our goal was for you to return to your workplace with valuable training, professional contacts and product information that equip you to work smarter. We trust that the changes that were implemented in the expo this year proved to be of value to you. We also realize that there are opportunities to continue to improve the expo along with the many other facets of ISA Pittsburgh. If you had the wherewithal to improve either the expo or some other aspect of the Pittsburgh section, what would you change? The most effective way of implementing a change is to get personally involved. Every improvement needs a sponsor to champion it. The involvement is very rewarding and looks great on your resume! In the ever changing world of automation, continuous education is the only means to keep pace with the state of technology. The Pittsburgh Section views education as a vital component of the services that we provide to the automation community. We are currently hosting two major educational events in the Pittsburgh area each year. The next major event is slated to be a collection of ISA National co-sponsored classes scheduled for September 2009. The classes to be offered will be based on the results of the survey you received in the registration package. Look for the information about these upcoming classes over the next several months. As we conclude the 2009 Pittsburgh ISA Education and Product Expo let's stop for a brief moment and check our roadmap otherwise known as the section goals. They are: · To provide value to the members of the Pittsburgh Section specifically and the Society as a wholeHave we been successful? Has this event moved the Section closer to achieving these goals? As the participants, you hold the answers to these questions. If you see opportunity for improvement, I encourage you to bring your ideas, your enthusiasm, your energy and join us in developing an ISA section of value. As many of you know, we have decided to completely change everything that you know about the yearly ISA Show. For many years we have continuously brought you the same format of smaller informative classes and a floor show. As well as that has worked for us in the past, we know that you require more from us, and we hope that this year's show is what you have been asking for. We have changed the entire format of the show: instead of focusing on the booths, we have decided to put our energy into providing you with a long list of three hours classes that will help you in your daily business. I hope that you took the time to schedule some of these classes. For the ISA to continue during these tough times, we need to make sure that we are here to provide you with every weapon so that you can be prepared for the future. With our new approach in Education, we hope that you will look towards your local ISA to keep you up to date with all of the new standards and practices as well as the latest in technology from your local Factory Representatives. I hope that you find this year's show to be the most well rounded and informative show ever put on by the Pittsburgh ISA. We are still in the building stage of our show and ask you as a guest to please give us your thoughts and ideas so that we may better serve you in the future. Without you, we would not be here. Please also keep in mind that every month the Section gets together for dinner meetings. The topics can always be found on our website or in the copy of Headlines that is sent to you. These meetings always have been very popular and "hot" topics that discuss issues that you are seeing on a daily basis. Even better still, our meetings are filled with many end users that could be going through some of the same issues that you have been working on and can help point you in the right direction. I hope to see you at our next meeting. Please enjoy our newly formatted Expo and feel free to come talk to me about ideas for next year! PS… Please before you leave, take a moment of your time to stop at the Welcoming Booth and thank Mariruth Cotter for all that she has done to keep this Section afloat. Without her, I honestly believe that this section would not be around today. Her blood, sweat, and tears (not to mention tons of hours) that she has put into our Section has really positioned us to become the top section in the nation. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH MARIRUTH!!!
