  From The President…

Our March 2008 show is expected to have a higher than past year's attendance. We hope this to be a trend as we realize that all of the trade shows have been loosing attendance as companies are streamlining workers and demands on all of us are higher. We do view the show as a learning experience from the products that are presented to the Mini Clinics that are offered.

Next year's show will be at another location and a different format.. We will continue to focus more on the educational informative aspect it offers verses the old trade show concept. Stay tuned and see the upcoming changes and as always please provide your input for next year's show.

We are brainstorming for new ideas and the February meeting was well received by all that attended. The meeting was a first of more to come that will focus on the Automation and Control opportunities for students. We had students from various colleges attend a forum that enlightened them on job outlook and opportunities. Hiring managers discussed what they look for in a student when interviewing a candidate for a job. The students walked away with a better idea of how to land that job they aspire for.

We would like to have schools start up student ISA chapters and are currently working with them to start the process. If you or anyone you know would like to participate, please let one of the board members know so we can work together to make this endeavor a success.

We are encouraged by the number of people signed up for the training session on selecting the right bus. Education is a valuable tool, and we plan on doing more of this in the future. Let us know what topics are of interest to you!

Please attend one of our upcoming events and meet other members. We can use your support and help to continue the success of our Pittsburgh Section.

Sincerely

Barry Busbey, President

  From The Chairman…
This will be our fourth year for holding the annual Pittsburgh ISA Show on the North Shore at Heinz Field. This has been a great venue in the past three years for us so let's make the fourth a great year as well.

As we prepared for this years show, we had a small decrease in the number of booths for this year. However, recently we have had a surge of newcomers and some old friends that have come back to the show. So there will be some new booths this year for you to see and some new faces to meet. As usual, the attendee's will be given a CD that will contain helpful information. The ever popular show directory contains contact information on the vendors that have booths at the show, links to many various manufacturers' web sites, advertisements, and more.

The Mini-Clinic subjects for this year are some of the best we have ever had. The turnout so far is beyond what we even expected. Don't forget to take a look at the clinics that we are offering this year. You may still signup for mini Clinics at the show. There is a topic for everyone!! Yes, we are still offering professional development hour certificates for those of you that attend.

The Pittsburgh ISA section committee and myself would like to thank all of the attendee's and the exhibitor's, both new and returning, that come back year after year to support their local ISA Chapter. Without all of your support, we would not be able to present the show that you see today. Please keep in mind that if you have any comments or ideas we would like to hear them.

I would also like to personally thank Mariruth Cotter for her many years of hard work and dedication. Without her, this section would not be as successful as it is today. When you see her at the show, be sure to thank her for everything that she does!

PS… Don't forget that the ISA show is not the only thing that we do. The Pittsburgh ISA Section has meetings every month that cover numerous topics. Our meeting place has moved this year. We now hold most of our meetings at the Classroom in McMurray on Route 19. Keep an eye in Headlines for more information.
